We stopped in here for a late breakfast because of another review that said their Hollandaise sauce was amazing, but we didn't see eggs benedict on the menu, much to my partner's dismay. Fortunately for me (and her), we asked our server about it, and indeed, they do have eggs benedict, and while I'm not a Hollandaise connoisseur, she really liked it, so the other reviewer was dead-on about that. Also, unlike lots of other places that shall remain nameless (even though it's like this pretty much everywhere around here), you get real maple syrup for your french toast without some stupid extra charge.

The atmosphere is quaint and charming, but it probably would have been better if they didn't have the news playing and talking about all the unfortunate business in the world (especially when there's a sign above the door that says to leave your politics outside). I'd like to enjoy my breakfast without hearing about a kid who had just won a kindness award from her elementary school and then got killed in a mass shooting. Also, the tea could have been hotter.

But these are nitpicks, and overall the breakfast was quite solid, both in terms of taste and value, and this penguin gives it two flippers up. Getting a good sit-down meal for two for under 40 bucks is not easy in 2026. Paul (of Paul's Diner fame) could learn a few things from Mr. Beaver.

If you haven't tried this place, you should. Support small local businesses that support you.

The prices were quite reasonable. I ordered a hamburger, and it came in a sandwich form. I wish the bun and patty hadn't been standard supermarket fare. The coffee was quite light. The kitchen is open, so you can see what's and how it's being cooked. The service is very attentive and polite. I hope it stays in business; it's a place where local middle-aged and older people meet. The customers are also very polite and greet everyone warmly.

The Village Store is a sweet neighborhood joint with good coffee and a full breakfast menu weekends; slightly more limited selections Tuesday-Wednesday. The muffins look good, but I always get the eggs. The cook owner has restored the space to its historical vibe as an everyone-knows-your-name kind of spot.

It’s great to have a breakfast place nearby , and while I haven’t tried to lunches, it’s a budget-friendly spot in an increasingly expensive world.

Fun fact: You can get 2 grilled hotdogs of $5 and bring your kids for a $3 peanut butter and fluff sandwich-which tells you the owner is a local who understands Massachusetts history and our proud invention of that sticky treat.

I appreciate all the nods to the history or Forge Village and I’m glad this local color spot is up and running.

I've popped into this place twice now while I was over at the nearby Mill Works for an athletic event with my kid. I usually bring my dog with when we go to these events at Mill Works and leave him in the car (weather permitting) & walk him periodically. Anyway, while walking through the Abbot Mill area, noticed this appealing place over on the corner. I was so excited to realize it was a little breakfast/lunch place, just the kind of casual place I love with yummy food. The service is excellent (I've only had to-go so not sit down) and the coffee is wonderful (I am not a starbucks fan so always happy to see a diner/cafe brewing something other than that) even though I get decaf they have some or will brew some fresh and have plenty of flavors to add. Got a breakfast sandwich this weekend and was nice and fresh and yummy. The homefries are chunks of real potatoes. I think next time I will try breakfast tots with the sandwich :-) . This place makes me look forward to the next event at the mill works, even though it's almost an hour drive from where I live. Recommend this place !

I have passed by this spot a few times and finally decided to stop in for a breakfast sandwich. The staff was great, extremely friendly! My sandwich was fresh, delicious, and was made very quickly! I highly recommend checking out this small business!
