★ 1Visiting this restaurant was like being in an episode of The Twilight Zone. We called ahead for a party of 10 two days before our dinner. When our party arrived we were directed by the waitress to sit at two separate tables. The dining room only had a single customer in the corner and several tables that could be joined for our party, but the waitress was adamant that they do not join tables together because they only have 1 cook and the kitchen cannot handle orders with more than 6 people. When we asked for the manager he told us the same. So we split our group and sat at 2 tables about 10 feet apart. Once the order was placed at one table it took another 10 minutes for the waitress to serve the second table. We at the second table eventually moved our 4 chairs to the first table so we could talk, which the waitress didn't seem to have a problem with. The first tables food came and the second tables food about 10 minutes later. We ended up remaining at the table of 6 and brought our food over even though it was tight. We were all shocked that a restaurant wouldn't move tables so a party could sit together in a mostly empty dining room. Those who had hamburgers and fish and chips enjoyed them, but the chicken wss dry and rice was hard on two of our dishes. Service was also poor, no refills were offered on the ice tea the entire meal and she brought out pitchers of water. Our party was very disappointed in the customer service and none of us plan to return. They also didn't serve coffee. It would have been worth the drive time to find another place to eat. I've never written a restaurant review before but the Red Slate was especially disappointing.

★ 5Our first night in the area we ate here at the Red Slate at the Magic Mountain resort. We were early and on Taco Tuesday but ate salads that were very good, yet took a long time to fix for us while others dining also waited awhile for their food orders. Tacos fed many others more quickly. Yet, the steak salad I had came with a full steak on top of the salad and was very good and a good value, too. The waitress was very nice with a mid western accent right out of the movie Fargo. So this is a great place to try.

★ 5The food was amazing. Not just “good”. My husband is from England so he’s a fish and chips connoisseur of sorts and loved it! They even had malt vinegar. Our waitress was absolutely great. I have to honestly say that these folks go above and beyond to see that you have a good experience. That being said…we will definitely go back.

★ 5Absolutely amazing! It was meatballs night, so of course I had the pasta with meatballs! Every night is a different special, and it's going to take everything I have to resist going coming back every night!

★ 5The food was great and the service was amazing. Red Slate uses high quality ingredients with a touch of love when they make a meal for you. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner while staying at Upper Pass Lodge.
