★ 55/5 stars! Had a wonderful breakfast experience at this diner today! The pancakes with strawberries were delicious, and my boyfriend got the Salmon Benedict which he loved. The restaurant was very clean, and our table by the window was perfect. Our server was super friendly and attentive. The wait time was just about right - not too long, not too short. I would definitely recommend coming here to grab breakfast.

★ 3Went there twice. Took a long time to get food both times. We thought maybe the first time was because they were really busy. This time there was a group of 8 or 10 people and us. They kept apologizing for the wait, saying it was because of this group. But even the group didn’t get all their food at once. It seemed to come out on plate at a time, with a pause in between.
My food was pretty good. But the atmosphere was horrid because of this group. They were celebrating and loud, which I get, but they were literally shouting and screaming like a bunch of unruly children (ironic since I overheard they were there to celebrate one of them being named teacher of the year!) I told the waitress, who said she’d talk to them but she didn’t. Another woman came over and asked if we wanted to move. No. That would have been a lot of hassle without much payback. These people seemed to be regulars, so no one had the guts to intervene.
Finally after some really loud screeching, I turned toward their table and said, “Could you people show a modicum of manners and not screech every word you say?” They quieted down, but not by much. They went from outrageously rude to just rude.
I know it’s a tough call for a business when one customer bothers another. I’m a business owner myself. As I see it, a business needs to be willing to intervene when things get out of control. And I won’t go back there knowing that the lowest common denominator in the building sets the rules for everyone. -

★ 5By far one of the best places to eat in Maine I've been to so far! The service was excellent, the wait time from order to table of food was excellent, and the cleanliness was excellent. House made food and desserts are top notch! An excellent selection of menu choices for breakfast, lunch, or dinner from appetizers, surf and turf, and definitely desserts. Highly recommended if your traveling near St. Albans. The only reason atmosphere got a 4 was the decor felt a bit sparce but took nothing away from the experience!

★ 5Shelbys cafe is wonderful! The staff are delightful and keep us coming back. My kiddos love the ham. I personally love the pancakes for bfast and the chicken rice soup (homemade) for dinner. We always try to take an extra bowl home

★ 5We’ve been here multiple times for breakfast. Today was our first experience with dinner take out. I got whole belly fried clams and wife got cheeseburger basket. It hit all the spots!! Can’t say enough about this place. Stop flying past and pull in and support a local, great spot.
