Jumped across the border into RI during our road trip from Alaska for this gem of a cafe. Some of the best fried pickles ever. Tried RI style clam chowder for the first time (it’s clear broth) and found it delicious. Plenty of clams. The BLT was a standard diner BLT done right — the bacon was cooked to the perfect crispiness, mayo ratio was right on target, lettuce was fresh not limpy and the tomatoes were ripe. Owner stopped by outside while we were waiting for our take out order and offered to take pics of me and my fiancé in front of their cool sign. During our subsequent conversation we found out he was a fine dining chef before buying the cafe and it shows in the food quality and taste. Plus the name of the place is just flippin cool; when you go, ask how the cafe got its unique name — it’s a great story.

An absolute must stop at on any occasion for breakfast! Truly, the eggs Benedict had one of the best hollandaise sauces and should be taken in consideration for best Benedict. Substitute the English for polenta, amazing!

The decor is true to the apocalyptic design and fun, makes for a great atmosphere and the diner feels like home full of regulars and good local people.

One of my favorite diners! Its a bit of a drive so I cant always go but its something I always make sure to visit when I'm in the area :] Food is always top notch, the waffle is my favorite (though I forgot to take a photo), but the milkshake is delicious too! And the decor is fun !

Completely delightful feast for the senses. Charming and welcoming exterior with loads of parking, delicious smells of home cooking as you enter. Comfortable seating at the counter, where I was greeted immediately with a specials menu that included barbecue for breakfast! Atomic Cafe decor with friendly boomerang formica that kept me looking around and lingering for a third cup of coffee. A happy, cozy break from the road, ans absolutely a must-stop.

    Thanks Shady Acres!

Great food. Great service. They have a lot of great options but not a huge classic diner menu. More interesting. Polenta fries... Turnkey Ruben. Nice bfast bowls. Chowder. Great lunch stop.
