For breakfast, we decided to check out Ruby Slipper Cafe after seeing so many great reviews. When we arrived, there was a huge line — and that’s when we realized we had made a mistake by not reserving ahead of time. We simply didn’t expect it to be that busy.

Thankfully, the host was very polite and welcoming, and we were seated fairly quickly at the bar, which actually turned out to be a great, atmospheric spot with a lively brunch vibe.

Our server was incredibly positive and cheerful, and she helped us choose our dishes. My wife ordered green tea, which came in a large mug, and I had a coffee. On her recommendation, we tried the Sweet Heat Chicken and French Toast Bites — and they were absolutely delicious. I actually ordered them after seeing how amazing they looked at a neighboring table.

Everything came out quickly, and the food was fantastic. We don’t drink alcohol, but I noticed they offer a wide variety of creative local cocktails that looked very popular.

Overall, it’s a very cool place with a great vibe. Definitely recommend it for breakfast in New Orleans.

Ruby Slipper is a FANTASTIC brunch spot! Great location close to the French Quarter, food was unbelievably delicious, and amazing service. Jaraud was an attentive server who brought our food out fast and even offered me a Diet Coke to go when we were leaving. Definitely come here!

This review is based on my experience on March 4. Very friendly staff. Waiter was great ... we bonded talking about his 1 year old. It went down hill from there. My companion ordered a pancake dish ... I ordered the eggs Benedict hash. Her meal came out hit and she enjoyed it. Mine ... cold. Cold hollandaise taste repugnant. Potatoes were cold and soft. Shame ... it looked great, but tasted like crap. Can't recommend restaurant. Share. Wait staff were top notch and very friendly. Kitchen staff needs to learn how to properly prepare food, or keep better track ot their expediting process and actually take the time to prepare orders in the right manner to ensure hot food is delivered to the table at the same time. Would have been a zero star rating, but Wait staff deserves some props.

I was in New Orleans for my birthday and had to go back to Ruby Slipper to get breakfast. I got the fried green tomatoes and beignets on the house for my birthday. The shrimp and grits are good but the benny’s are why I go back. They are delicious especially if you get the trio. I went to two different locations while I was there. Decatur street and Canal. The only major suggestion is to always make a reservation because it’s popular and people love to go there!

It was decent - not amazing.

It was very cold and noisy in the restaurant.

Our server, Walter was kind and attentive.

Two of us shared the following for breakfast:n- Gulf Shrimp Omelet w/ Grits and Buttermilk Biscuitn- Side of Tater Totsn- Side of Buttermilk BiscuitnnThe coffee was a bit weak but it was hot. The cream was fresh.

    The omelet was really good.

The tots were cooked crispy - just how we prefer.

The buttermilk biscuit was disappointing. It looked great but was tough and chewy.

I would return to the Ruby Slipper but I’d eat outside. Maybe have another omelet and the pancakes. The pancakes looked real good.
