We went here for dinner this past Saturday and had a great time. The drinks were fresh and tasty and the food was creative and well made. The food came out fast! We were in and out in about an hour. We did make a reservation but it didn't seem like it was necessary as the tables turned over quickly. Service was very friendly and helpful. A great experience overall

What a cozy, quaint and enjoyable place to have a meal… It has the vintage diner vibe, and the food leans Mexican cuisine. I had the brisket hash and it’s one of the best meals I’ve ever had. They have housemaid sauces/condiments and I cannot recommend the chili/garlic/sesame oil for your eggs or potatoes enough! Everything is either made in house or from a local bakery/vendor. The mimosas we had were also top-notch – easily the best I’ve ever had. Cortland (hope I’m spelling that right) served us at the bar and was extremely friendly and pleasant. The music is all vinyl, which was another fantastic touch. A lot of older, Tejano and Cumbia music played, but Cortland ended up putting on the flaming lips, which felt just as good. This is a must see/must eat at establishment. It also helped that it was our first full day in Chicago and the sun was shining… The entire Wicker Park area is really sweet to walk around in, but make sure you eat at Dove‘s!

If dining in person on a frigid day, be prepared to wait in the cold vestibule or grab some coffee across the street until you get called. Once seated, we were served right away and the food came out quickly. My group of 4 was pleased with their selections and 2 had to take food to-go. 2 of us ordered the Dove’s Deluxe, which included bacon that was nice, thick, and tasty. The potatoes were outstanding. Each was like eating mini st■ potatoes skins. The eggs and toast were fine. I tried some of my friend’s brisket and I thought it was ok. My other friend’s pozole was very large and filling and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall, it was a good experience.

Dove’s is an unassuming “diner” serving killer modern, Mexican-inspired dishes. Put your name on the wait list, enjoy the surrounding area, and come back for an excellent meal. Chicken fried chicken, brisket hash, masa pancakes. Everything was fresh, bursting with flavor, and clearly made with care. Love the informality, eclectic vibe, and super friendly service. Huge portions at very reasonable prices. Dove’s is truly a standout in a neighborhood full of great options.

Great spot for breakfast! Plenty of classic options with a twist. I ordered the breakfast plate with two eggs, toast, potatoes and choice of meat. The bacon was phenomenal and thick, and the potatoes were so crispy and flavorful. The portion size was very generous and I couldn’t finish it all, it was a great bang for your buck. I was able to walk right in and sit at the counter as a solo diner on a busy Sunday morning after the farmers market. Service was very quick, friendly, and attentive.
