★ 5We returned from camping 7 nights at the Big Moose Inn and loved it! It was exactly what I wanted in a location as it was close to the south entrance of Baxter State Park and was a rustic setting on a lake. We stayed in the RC (right circle) site which accommodated our 26 ft camper and slide without issue. The picnic table was behind the camper and was perfect as it allowed us to enjoy our meals while looking out onto Lake Millinocket. The site had 30 amp electrical hook up and water. The electric was a little further from our camper and required us to use our extension cord that we carry for these situations. For future campers, there is no septic connections on this property. There are none at the sites and there is not a septic dump station for when you leave. I thought this might be the case after. looking at the property map so I brought our portable septic tank along which did come in handy. Halfway through our stay the blank tank was showing 3/4 full (likely a lie as those sensors never get fully cleaned off) but I didn't want to risk an overflow so I dumped some of the black tank into our portable tank. I then transported the black tank in my truck to the Millinocket Chamber of Commerce where they have a dump station for use for $15 per dump (honor system by cash on site). Was it a little bit of a hassle and not ideal? Yes. Would I not stay at the Big Moose because of this in the future? No way! If you are staying for a few nights this is not an issue, but close to a week or have smaller tanks, be prepared to either use the on site shower/bathroom facilities or have a portable dump tank. We had dinner at the restaurant on property and were pleasantly surprised. I had the chicken marsala and it was honestly one of the better meals I have had in awhile and the price was extremely reasonable for the portion. We had the blueberry hand pie for dessert and it was excellent! There is a gift shop/cafe/bar right next to the inn and that was also great! Their breakfast sandwiches are delicious! If you like whoopies pies they serve the best, biggest whoopie pies we have had to date. They are so good that we had to get one to take home (it only made it to Massachusetts). I loved my time in Maine and staying at the Big Moose Inn really made it a memorable experience! If you like to fish, go to the lake across the street. I caught some nice bass from the shore in the evenings.

★ 5I've stayed in the lakeside cabins a couple times and a tent site. Although I haven't stayed at The Big Moose Inn, I have been inside and its very nice. (Don't expect the Ritz Carlton, you're in the north Maine woods).

★ 5Was a great place to use as a base for hike up Mt. Katahdin. Had a cabin with shower and kitchenette in it. It suited our needs for the weekend. The Inn has a restaurant that was fantastic for our post hike meal. Service was great all around! Will book again for next trip up.

★ 5I had a wonderful experience. I couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful Maine experience in the North Woods near Baxter (BSP). Staff were kind, warm, and open with suggestions of day hikes, food, and outdoor experiences.
I almost rented a suite and didn’t rent a room, but I’m glad I did. The shared bathrooms were okay. It worked out better for my wallet. 😊I was grateful for a fan & air conditioner in my room. Helped greatly with humidity. -

★ 4Great stop after time in park. We at dinner at loose moose. I had the coconut shrimp and pretzel sticks. Shrimp was excellent and the sweet chili sauce has heat n kick n tasted great with shrimp. Pretzel sticks had a little too much salt on them and not hot along with beer cheese. Service was great and the atmosphere was great also. Open to 9pm which was great for us as well were in park till 8pm.
