★ 5Very Cute Diner. Staff was very attentive. An upscale diner with great food. They serve breakfast all day. My daughter had the chicken fingers I had the big breakfast. It is Texas size portions. Will visit again when I’m in Katy.

★ 3popular breakfast spot that offers most of your American breakfast favorites in a homely atmosphere.
can get busy on weekends so there could be a wait.
extensive menu. wait staff is friendly and helpful but busy because they are understaffed when busy.
the food is bland but comes out fairly quickly. they may cater to an older crowd but we would like bolder flavors. for example the migas blanco could use more spice and bolder Mexican flavors throughout. the Hollandaise sauce in Avalon Benedict was diluted and could be more rich and buttery with more salt and cayenne.
decent amount of parking in the lot. -

★ 3Avalon Diner is a classic spot with an old-school diner feel, but the food was a bit underwhelming. I tried the Migas Blanco and Blueberry Pancakes, and while both were decent, neither stood out. The migas had a mild flavor and could have used more seasoning or spice. The blueberry pancakes were fluffy but nothing special—just your standard diner fare. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere was nostalgic, but overall, the food didn’t quite live up to the hype. It’s an okay choice if you’re looking for a casual breakfast, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to return.

★ 5I recently visited Avalon’s Diner while staying in Houston, and I must say, it lived up to every expectation! My boyfriend is a huge fan of their chicken finger baskets since high school, so I had to try them for myself, and I’m so glad I did. I went with the regular chicken fingers, and they were absolutely delicious— crispy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. The highlight for me was the honey mustard sauce; it was light, buttery, and a perfect complement to the dish.
Our server was fantastic too! She was incredibly kind and had a great sense of humor, keeping us laughing throughout our meal. It really added to the overall warm and welcoming atmosphere of the place. Avalon’s Diner is definitely a gem, and I’m looking forward to my next visit!
