★ 5We came all the way from western New York for another stay in beautiful Bar Harbor, a place we’ve fallen hopelessly in love with, and somehow found Pete’s by pure happenstance. Which feels appropriate, honestly. Places this good should probably be discovered like buried treasure or whispered legends.
This time around, I ordered the half fish sandwich with smashed potatoes and garlic aioli, along with the buttered biscuits and maple butter. Every single dish felt inspired. Flavorful. Comforting in the way good food is supposed to be. You could taste the care in it. The kind of food that briefly makes you forget your problems and consider hugging the cook.
It was a privilege meeting Ryan and sharing some humble conversation with him. Somewhere between laughter and bites of food that nearly made us emotional, he told us his father taught him how to make serious barbecue down in Georgia—and suddenly everything made sense. Now we knew why the food tasted like somebody’s family history instead of just another menu.
Pete’s has officially become one of our staples every time we visit the area, and we already can’t wait to come back for more incredible food, warm conversation, and the kind of banter that makes you feel less like a customer and more like you accidentally wandered into a place you’ve known forever.

★ 5Incredible experience yesterday at Peter Trout’s Tavern. Very very welcoming, delicious food (lobster was not on the menu but they made it especially for us), cosy atmosphere with country music… a perfect night ! Thank you again

★ 4Place could be a really cool spot. Has two bar tops, lots of seating, a lot of space, was clean and has a good view. We were the only people in the place the entire time. We sit at the bar as usual. Not a fan of the rap music playing, definitely did not go with the atmosphere of the place and was slightly loud since there was no one there. They changed the music to something equally just as bad but we went for food. We got a couple beers and ordered the food. Chicken and waffles and a chicken sandwich. Extra sides are $7 ea which is steep. Service was fine, bartenders did not go out of their way to make conversation but was cordial and attentive. Chicken was really good; waffle was just a waffle, bun was fresh and good on the sandwich. Side for the sandwich was whole new potatoes. Very tasty but there are only 3. Maybe the music was a one off or just because it is the end of the season. We probably would have hung around and drank a few more if the music was more our style or if bartenders would have struck up some conversation. The fact we were the only customers may be why it had an awkward vibe but overall I would go back and try it again.

★ 5Food was so good here…we came twice on our trip to Maine! The crispy chicken is their specialty which is really good but I loved the fish sandwich!!! Yes, it is huge and the fish and batter is amazing. Lite crispy batter and then the fish of the day was the haddock…so good! I also really enjoyed the crab cake special. Nice wine and local beer selection.

★ 5Who knew I had to come all the way to Southwest Harbor, Maine to get some of my favorite wings ever. In all my work visits and family visits here, I’ve never come over to Manset area. I’m so stinking glad I found this place.
