Purchased a ready made Chicken Caesar Salad and an Asiago Breadstick. While the service and atmosphere are great, the taste and quality of the food has gone substantially down. In the past, Au Bon Pain used to toss your salad fresh but the ready made salads seem junked together. The lettuce pieces are large and have to be cut with a knife, and the chicken pieces are also not bite sized pieces and need to be cut. The flavor of the chicken was salty and a bit slimy so I stopped after ingesting just one piece. The dressing on the side also tasted really salty. This used to be my go to salad spot but looks like I have to find another location!

I got a basic coffee, so maybe I’m not the best reviewer of the full Au Bon Pain experience. I asked for a coffee. The person behind the counter handed me a cup and told me the total. I tapped. That was it. The coffee was good. The tables lining the hallway were fine. This was upstairs in a student center undergoing significant renovations, so the sounds of work were coming through the floor. I worked on a chapter of a book I’m writing about chain gangs in Virginia in the 1920s. This seemed like a perfectly reasonable things to do here.

There is this one employee who is nice and actually does his job. The food is a hit or miss and seems a bit repetitive after a while. The rest of the employees are tolerable and the ones in the early morning are mostly nice. Though there are some who tend to be rude at times.

For what it is, abp is a decent place to eat at. Even though their sandwiches do get repetitive, its variety, convenience, and pastries makes it probably the best place to get lunch at. There's always 8 soups ready to grab and cookies and pastries everywhere. Honestly the food isn't bad, but the wait is the worst part. Some times I've had to wait 20 just to place my order and pay. There definitely needs to be a better way to check out.

The slowest service I've had anywhere. Food is significantly more expensive than it's worth and staff is not the most competent. Right now I'm waiting in line behind 20 other people and there is one cashier. İt's unacceptable how bad and slow they are for how much were paying.

Edit: everything about this place sucks. Their credit card machines don't work properly, they don't even stand upright? I once had a machine fall to the ground while I was trying to pay and had to wait for a good ten minutes. Also what's up with their pastry boxes that don't keep their shape? Like I could've gotten a bag and it would be the same...
