★ 5All praise to my waiter Elijah! He recommended everything I ate on the menu. The sweet potato bread rolls, chicken parm, Hawaiian Punch (non alcoholic bev) and chocolate cake were too good. 10 out of 10! Can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu. The atmosphere, music, and overall vibes were perfect for a Sunday afternoon.

★ 5What a wonderful experience! Location is great, a short walk from the Mt. Vernon station. The food was so good we had to come back the next day for another experience! We tried the Chicken Parm and the Shakshouka the first day and then came back for the Double Cheeseburger, Shrimp and Grits and Blueberry Pancakes the next day. Such an elevated dining experience. Will definitely be back when we come back to DC.

★ 5Wasn't sure what to expect, the diner is highly rated and recommended. Place was very packed, was able to get a spot at bar counter. The chicken waffle was delicious, crispy not oily with tasty unorthodox seasoning as the name suggests. Only mistake was server forgot about my order of basque cheesecake, was short on time and had to take it to go. Was not expecting an item like this on a diner menu, but was still a delicious version.

★ 5Absolutely Delicious. What should you order: Anything! This place has delicious food across the whole menu. We ended up coming two day in a row as it was that tasty. The loaded breakfast biscuits were crazy flavorful. My wife loved the pancakes, which were top notch. The star of the show was the chocolate cake, which may be the best Chocolate cake I’ve ever eaten. Overall come here hungry and leave super happy!

★ 5Unconventional Diner is definitely a spot I enjoy, especially during happy hour. Their burger happy hour deal is a great value because it comes with fries and a drink, and the burger is always cooked well and full of flavor. The fries are fresh, crispy, and pair perfectly with the meal.
I also tried the kale nachos and was honestly impressed. It’s a unique twist, but it works really well and doesn’t feel like you’re missing out on real nachos. Everything was seasoned perfectly and the portion size was solid.
To top it off, the frozen margarita was smooth, refreshing, and the perfect drink to go with the food. Overall, Unconventional Diner has great happy hour options, good vibes, and food that’s worth coming back for.
