In the cities for an appointment and I have several hours to waste. So I looked up local restaurants and this is the one we decided on.
Amazing food! Coffee is delicious and the bakery items are so delightful! It was hard to decide on bakery items so we got 3. Gluten friendly caramel brownie, thyme cheddar biscuit and the key lime bar. All amazing. The walleye Benedict was phenomenal! And we also had the (forgot the name) breakfast sandwich on sourdough with bacon and eggs. It came with a side sale and the dressing on it was perfect with the sandwich. The sourdough bread was perfectly toasted and the eggs were perfectly cooked. I mean it's been a while since I've been so happy with my meal.

We moved to NE Minneapolis almost 2 years ago and I cannot believe we just now tried the Buttered Tin!
Excellent food, great atmosphere, friendly staff!
I had the special which was a mushroom truffle and my partner had the walleye cake bennie. and cannot stop talking about how good it was. I agree though!
My only wish is there was a vegetarian version of the sweet potato hash, but there were a handful of other vegetarian options.
I have to admit, I did not understand how we were supposed to be seated. There was a staff who pointed at a table for us, and probably said the table number too but I'm hard of hearing and did not hear him.

Thus I started ordering and the staff at the register asked for it and I wasn't sure how we were supposed to have one. Tbh I thought he was suggesting we grab that table when we go sit, though in hindsight it didn't make sense, that all to say it was a little confusing. I think that could be a little more clear especially for people with disabilities (HoH/ deaf).

The cashier was super nice and went to go figure it out for us, and didn't make me feel c anymore awkward and aloof than I already did!

The restaurant was clean and would be accessible for wheelchair users (ramp onto building, is a disabled users stall, tables wide enough apart, no other stairs/obstacles in restaurant)nnThe staff who brought the food and bused our table were very nice as well. I asked if they could explain the table number situation as it was our first time and she was delighted to do so.

The prices are on par with the Twin cities, especially when considering the tip is included in the meal price. And they have happy hour on their baked goods from 1-3 which is half off and I got a kick ass coffee cake.

    Will return!

I loved the bright and airy atmosphere of this restaurant! I’m not a fan of ordering at the counter but they have a good system and went fast. All of our choices were tasty and loved the French toast! I will be back to try their bakery items!

If you’re looking for a great place to stop for breakfast in the Northeast, this spot absolutely deserves a visit. Whether you’re just passing through the area or you’re a local searching for a reliable breakfast destination, this place delivers in a big way. From the moment we walked in, it had the kind of welcoming atmosphere you hope for when starting your day—friendly, relaxed, and clearly a place where people come specifically for great food.

I decided to order the breakfast burrito, and it ended up being one of the best breakfast decisions I’ve made in a long time. The burrito was huge—easily one of the most filling breakfast items I’ve had anywhere. It was packed with ingredients and clearly made fresh. Every bite had a great balance of flavors, and nothing felt like it was just filler. Sometimes breakfast burritos can be overly greasy or one-dimensional, but this one managed to be hearty without feeling heavy in a bad way. It had just the right mix of ingredients, all wrapped together perfectly.

By the time I finished it, I was completely st■. It was the kind of meal where you immediately realize lunch probably isn’t happening that day. If you show up hungry, this is definitely the item to order. It’s satisfying, flavorful, and big enough that it’ll keep you going for hours.

My wife kept things a little simpler and ordered from the à la carte menu. She went with two eggs and a side of hash browns. Sometimes simple breakfast items are actually the best way to judge a place, because there’s nowhere to hide—either they’re good or they’re not.

In this case, the hash browns completely stole the show.

I’m not exaggerating when I say they were the best hash browns I’ve ever had. They were perfectly crispy on the outside with a great golden-brown crust, but still soft and fluffy on the inside. That contrast between crunchy and tender is exactly what great hash browns are supposed to be, and these absolutely nailed it. You could tell they were cooked with care and not rushed.

Too often, hash browns at restaurants come out soggy, undercooked, or overly greasy. These were none of those things. They were crispy, flavorful, and honestly good enough that they could have been the main item on the plate. If you’re someone who loves good breakfast potatoes, this place is worth visiting for the hash browns alone.

The eggs were cooked exactly as ordered as well—simple, classic, and done right. Again, it’s a reminder that when a kitchen can execute the basics perfectly, it usually means everything else on the menu is in good hands.

Another thing worth mentioning was the portion sizes. Both of our meals were generous without feeling wasteful. You definitely get the sense that they want customers to leave satisfied. Between the huge breakfast burrito and the excellent hash browns, it felt like we got a lot of value for the meal.

Overall, this place left a great impression. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and the simple items were executed perfectly. Sometimes the best breakfast spots aren’t the ones with the most complicated menus—they’re the ones that focus on doing classic breakfast food really well. That’s exactly what this place seems to do.

If you’re anywhere in the Northeast and looking for a solid breakfast stop, I would absolutely recommend checking it out. Come hungry, order the breakfast burrito if you want something filling, and definitely don’t skip the hash browns. After trying them, you might find yourself saying the same thing I did—they’re the best you’ve ever had.

I’ve been to the buttered tin in South Minneapolis and enjoyed it but now went to the NE location and had to write this review. This was the best breakfast I’ve had in a while 😮‍💨 I got the ropa vieja which as a Latina I was surprised that they even had! It was DELICIOSOOO. The plantains were perfectly cooked and the whole dish was seasoned to perfection, a great portion size, and warm. I got banana bread on the side with a drip coffee and both of those were amazing, 10/10. On top of that the service was great, food came out within 10-12 mins of ordering, and the guy at the register was so patient with me while I asked him for recommendations and what was good. I already want to come back 🥰🤤
