As a top Google Local Guide, I’m always on the lookout for unique places to explore with my husband. When we walked into The Asbury, the breakfast rush had just ended and we had missed the chef—but we met Tim, who graciously offered to make whatever we wanted. Now that’s hospitality!
We ordered the chicken and waffles and the eggs Benedict, and don’t even get me started on the most delicious beignet—oh my word! Absolutely outstanding.
Although I’ve read several negative reviews, our first visit was wonderful. Beth provided attentive, 5-star service, and we left already planning our return to try more items on the menu.
Parking: We parked down the street. I did read another review mentioning parking validation, so I’d recommend asking ahead of your visit.

    Happy exploring 📍n—Josephine, Local Guide

We went here for the pre-Wicked menu. The service was excellent, but the food was disappointing. The online menu said beef tenderloin would be served, but we received a very fatty bland strip steak. The fat was not rendered properly. The meat was cold, unseasoned, and not seared. It tasted like it had been steamed. The vegetables were okay. The shrimp appetizer tasted like it was made with frozen shrimp. The lemon meringue pie was lackluster and soggy. I would not recommend this restaurant. They did have a wine bottle special and validated parking. The food was very overpriced for poor quality.

Easily the worst dining experience in memory. The Asbury is part of The Dunhill Hotel. The hotel lost power and had evicted all guests. The Asbury, next door, did not lose power and stated that their only limitation was that the bar, apparently in The Dunhill, was not operable and therefore they had no spirits nor draft beer. Ok, we could deal with that (although it makes no sense that one could not still pour a bourbon or shake a martini). The servers bless their hearts were trying, but management has not trained staff at all (this will seem arrogant, but i ordered a bottle of wine amongst 3 at our table and said that the person sitting opposite me would taste it. The server poured a full glass for my and the 3rd person, then poured a taste for the taster. Really?) The food was barely edible. Meatloaf was dry and tasteless other than the bottled barbecue glaze, skirt steak was overdone, mashed potatoes were whipped into glue, gnocchi was leathery, mahi mahi was a hockey puck. Also the place was quite noisy for a small restaurant that was 1/3 full. Nobody (8 of us) even considered looking at the dessert menu at that point.

As a native of Charlotte I am absolutely ashamed that I have not been here before. I probably had the best burger ever in my life. Service was great, ambience amazing and everything very clean. Only thing that could make this experience better is if they had live jazz in the lobby of the hotel. I will definitely be back.

Was staying at the Dunhill Hotel so went downstairs for breakfast. It was delicious ! Great food. Tried the chicken and waffles.
