  Frequented the former location often, excellent. Went today Saturday. Long wait with about 5 or 6 tables wide open not being sat & several bar seats open. I finally asked if we could sit at the bar. We sat there for about 10-15 minutes before approached. It took awhile to just get coffees. We had to ask for silverware set ups. Server was sweet. We ordered. In the meantime we were just observing. The counters in front of us in the bar area were like a dumping ground of dirty rags to wipe tables, (which the girl filling syrups used to wipe the big syrup bottle) half empty plastic & coffee cups, take out containers, etc and several blank wall TVs left over from the former restaurant...a side high top booth area with coats strewn, half used dishes and a landing area for dishes/glasses needed to be put away. It looked like maybe the staff area? The server taking our order said the system was down and orders had to be handwritten which actually should be no big deal. We asked 2x if our food was coming. We saw 6 front of house staff moving about, not sure how many were servers & it was not busy enough to be so slow. No one except a girl at the front taking names & a woman in the bar area were hustling & working. We asked our server for more coffee , she never brought it. We asked another passing us and she refilled one, ran out, got another pot but it only had a drop left , we never got more. Finally the food came & mine was cold. They offered to recook but we said we didn't have another almost hour to wait for food. It was disappointing. I've worked in restaurants from breakfast places to fine dining with tableside service, trained staff for years in high volume restaurant in Fanuiel Hall, had our own family owned tavern for 12 years. I want places to s쳮d. Sugar Mags has always been known for great food. Today was disappointing. Staff need much more training to develop consistency across the board, front of house more organization overall. I certainly hope it s쳮ds

  Went for lunch on a Friday, everyone I was with loved their meals. I got the BLTT with broccoli slaw.
  
  Was able to come back for breakfast a few months later. So so good, definitely recommend. Great sweet and savory breakfast options. Friendly staff.

  Sugar Magnolias was okay overall. The staff was friendly, which I appreciated, and the food itself was fine. However, the pineapple fritters had no pineapple in them, which was disappointing.
  
  What really concerned me was the bussing situation. I watched a busser set a table, drop a spoon on the floor, and then still place it on the table for the next guest. That’s a basic sanitation issue and hard to overlook.

  The menu accommodates all taste palettes and has a variety of different style pancakes, French Toast and Eggs Benedict selections which I loved. I ordered two breakfasts for the perfect 1st time experience here of salty and sweet with the Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict and the Monkey Bread French Toast... amazing!!!! Our server Rachel was great and attentive. We were seated pretty quickly. On street parking is available. If you're staying locally close in town it's convenient to walk to and is around other restaurants and shopping stores. Would definitely come back.

  Very tasty omelet and eggs! Well cooked bacon and nice service. The crab cakes were tasty, but not crab lumpy enough for my taste. Everything else was great!
