  I’ve been coming to The Silver Skillet for breakfast a few times now because I wanted to try a variety of things on the menu, and I can confidently say this place is special. They’re about to hit 70 years this May, and it makes sense the second you walk in. The inside is about as classic diner as it gets. Comfortable booths, old-school feel, and a front counter with snacks, shirts, and little items for sale that just add to the charm.
  
  The staff is what really takes it over the top. Nikki has been my server multiple times, and she’s amazing. She’s usually singing or whistling along to whatever music is playing, and it honestly puts you in a good mood without you even realizing it. Service like that is rare.
  
  Food-wise, I’ve tried several things now, and everything has been great, but here are my top standouts:nnThe catfish is one of my favorites. It comes in strips, fried perfectly, and packed with flavor.
  
  Chicken and waffles are excellent. The waffle is crispy on the outside and soft inside instead of fluffy, and it works really well. The chicken itself is seriously flavorful — not just crispy, but seasoned really well all the way through.
  
  But the biggest surprise for me:nnThe country ham with red-eye gravy.
  I’m not exaggerating when I say this might be the best ham I’ve ever had. It’s thinly sliced, so you don’t have to deal with a thick, chewy cut, and it’s full of flavor. The red-eye gravy that the ham is marinated in (which I was told is a family recipe) takes it to another level. They also give you extra on the side to dip. If you mix that ham with over-easy eggs and hash browns, then grab a bite with a biscuit… that’s one of the best breakfast bites I’ve had in a long time.
  
  And to top it all off, it just pairs perfectly with a nice, cold Diet Coke. Something about that combo just works.
  
  And to be clear, it’s not just one or two good items — everything I’ve had here has been great. I’ve also tried the omelet, the chicken biscuit with egg and cheese, and the country fried steak, and they’ve all been consistently delicious. They have a large breakfast menu, and I still haven’t even gotten into lunch yet.
  
  Only thing to keep in mind is parking. There is a lot on the side, but it fills up quickly since other businesses share the area. If you come at a busy time, it might take a minute to find a spot.
  
  Overall, this is one of those places you keep coming back to. Spots like this are part of the community and deserve the support.

  These must be Martin’s Mommas biscuits. Very quality southern biscuits taste just like grandmother used to make. Most plates are around $15/$16 featuring one meat, grits and eggs, toast, or biscuit. I got the fried catfish and my wife got the corned beef hash. We both added hashbrowns. $20 +tip.
  It’s a small place, but it had maximized seating spacing. Service is prompt and food is good speed. Portions are ok but could be bigger. Crispy and tasty fish and tasty corned beef hash. Could’ve had more grits, more hashbrowns, and one extra fish strip.
  
  Nostalgic look all around. I see why movies were done here. I was very impressed with the large menu. Lunch starts at 11 and we were there for breakfast so we added this place to our favorites and plan to come try the lunch options. Very good menu and good side options. Good dessert list also. I tried the peach cobbler and it was a bit small for the price. It didn’t have the look at first. I’m the taste was good, but the dough is thick and not crispy like pie shell as I prefer.
  
  I’d recommend this place and come back. Plenty of parking on the side lot dedicated.

  The Silver Skillet in Atlanta is a timeless Southern landmark that perfectly blends nostalgia, hospitality, and hearty comfort food. Family-owned since 1956, it’s the kind of place where the décor hasn’t changed and every detail feels authentic, from the checkered floors to the posters on the walls. The atmosphere is warm and familiar, with the smell of bacon in the air and friendly staff who treat you like a regular the moment you walk in. The menu is Southern comfort including their famous biscuits that melt in your mouth. More than just breakfast, The Silver Skillet serves up a taste of Atlanta’s history and heart, proving that some traditions are worth keeping exactly as they are. Where the past still tastes delicious.

  Very cute diner! I ordered the bacon cheeseburger (although the bacon was missing). It was still pretty good and the fries were very fresh/tasty! Only took 7 minutes for my food to be ready once ordered at the restaurant
