Phinista Cafe is a vibrant French‑Vietnamese café nestled in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood, and it’s become a standout spot for Vietnamese coffee, creative drinks, and café fare. The café blends traditional phin‑style coffee with contemporary twists, and many locals praise it for having some of the best Vietnamese coffee in the city.

The atmosphere feels bright and welcoming, with plenty of color and personality that sets it apart from your average coffee shop. Service is generally friendly and attentive, though it can get a bit busy during peak hours, so seating might be sparse if you arrive later in the day.

Phinista’s drink menu is a highlight, featuring traditional Vietnamese phin coffee alongside inventive lattes, like the ube and pandan matcha lattes. We tried the matcha, and it was pretty good, with a decent matcha flavor that came through, but not as strong as we would've hoped.

On the food side, the café serves a mix of house‑made crepes, banh mi sandwiches, pastries, and light brunch items. The banh mi was good, but pretty standard and similar to other locations we've had.

Overall, Phinista Cafe delivers a fun, flavorful café experience with standout Vietnamese coffee and plenty of options beyond the usual espresso drink, making it a great stop whether you’re in the mood for a brunch bite or a unique coffee break.

Phinista is my goat it has yet to (severely) disappoint!! Great study spot if you're willing to wait for a table (usually doesn't take me longer than 10-15 mins). Of their matchas, my favorite is their pandan, but their ube and strawberry are good too. I like their pastries, though their cookies are a bit dry. Highly recommend their bowls if you want actual food; they give big portions and everything is seasoned well.

Had the Iced Saigonese, and it was the perfect refreshment on the first hot day of the year. The flavor was smooth and balanced, sweet without being too sweet. The cold foam gave the drink just the right amount of creaminess, too. I really enjoyed sipping this out on the patio and soaking in the active vibe of the surrounding neighborhood.

i tried the black sesame saigonese and at first i thought it was slightly too bitter (not a hUGE coffee drinker), but then after mixing it and drinking a little bit more, it got better and better! texture wise, it’s very seEDY which is quite interesting , but there isn’t like a super strong black sesame flavour .

Came here for brunch ~noon. We ordered two banh mis to go because the place was packed, but seating magically opened up. I like that they ask you if you want your coffee less sweet, because classic Vietnamese coffee + condensed milk can be pretty sugary. Matchas are hand-whisked to order!

Banh mis were good—crispy, soft baguettes with the right amount of pickled daikon + cucumbers. My lemongrass steak was a bit tough; my jaw was tired by the time I finished the whole thing.

Love the vibe (free books & board games), indoor & outdoor seating (beware of wasps that also love the sandwiches), and a good assortment of baked goods. Bought a pistachio muffin on my way out because they looked so perfect💚 will get the strawb matcha latte or ube latte next time
