As a New Bedford local, parking downtown can be tricky, but visiting in the evening meant no meters — just be prepared for a short walk. It’s worth it.

We went on a Tuesday for their dinner-for-two special, which includes two entrées and your choice of a bottle of wine, an appetizer, or dessert. I had the teriyaki salmon, my date had the fish & chips, and both dishes were fresh, hot, and came out quickly. The food really exceeded expectations.

The only letdown was the clam chowder, which tasted like it had been sitting a bit too long and didn’t have the freshness the rest of the meal delivered.

Our server, Sam, was outstanding — attentive, interactive, and genuinely helpful the entire time. I asked to speak with a manager to share some positive feedback about him, but they weren’t able to come out. It wasn’t a major issue, just something that would have added a more personal touch.

Overall, a great meal with excellent service and a cozy downtown atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back.

The food in amazingly good! The Brussels sprouts were the best we ever had! The service is friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant. The pain killer cocktail is yummy. The Portuguese steak is very good, however not a traditional style of Portuguese steak with the red peppers and the gravy is different but good. We definitely recommend trying this place!

Went with a friend to the area and before starting our evening, decided to stop in and try some of their little pies. They had a variety and looked sooooo good! Unfortunately, it was actually disappointing. They were suppose to be 3 for $12, but was charged almost $15 when they were already overpriced. However, figured the taste would make up for it, and that would have been fine, but I was wrong. The crab rangoon ones were SO salty, we literally couldn't even finish them. The shrimp Mozambique was just another mushy, bland, salted mix. And the apple pie, although decent flavor was just another mush. I was expecting less mush in them, way more actual flavor beyond the crazy amount of salt and some texture. Nice spot, we liked the vibes, the workers were nice, but I don't think I'll be back again. At least definitely never for those pies again.

On the smaller side, but the bar is large and is has a comfortable feel. The Tuesday dinner specials are great and quite affordable. The lasagna bolognese is very meaty and cheesy and is a large portion. The salmon was a little small but good. The cocktail menu is very good as well. I will be back to try more.

We returned to New Beige to try their lunch menu. We were able to sit outside and enjoy a sunny fall day. Our waitress was quick to great us and take our orders. I enjoyed the Turkey BLAT and hubby had the fish sandwich. Both were very tasty and we enjoyed thoroughly.
We would highly recommend. Please visit and enjoy for yourself.
