★ 3Tacos Tonatico are about as close an approximation to proper street tacos as you'll find in New England, though the inclusion of lettuce is weird. Fillings have flavor and the tortillas are thin and light, though fall apart easier than handmade tortillas should.
Excellent value for money. -

★ 5An offshoot of the late, great Jose's Mexican restaurant in Cambridge. Many of the selections are the same. We came specifically for the pozole, a chicken and homily corn soup. A large bowl was loaded with big kernels of corn and plenty of chicken. A friend who was born and raised in Mexico said Jose's pozole is top notch. Quality and quantity make for good value. We easily found parking on the street at no cost for 2 hours. Service was fast and friendly. They plan to expand inside and out so seating will increase. They're also getting a liquor license.
We will return! -

★ 5Delicious and flavorful food! I especially love that you can have sopes and flautas with plant-based proteins like seitan, not just beans and veggies--rare to come by!

★ 3This place is a bit snug on the space level. They would truly benefit form outdoor seating. I am rarely ever out in this area but decided to pop in.
I got an order of tacos and chips and salsa.
Burria Tacos: Bless the hands of whomever made these! The tortillas has been dipped in the burria sauce before assembly making them even more flavorful, with extra burria sauce on the plate and the green sauce was creamy without being creamy and had a bright burst of flavor. Cheese present but didn't take over. Beans and rice were good too.
Verdict: EAT THISnnChips and Salsa: Here is my problem. The salsa, glorious, but there isn't enough of it. The vessel they serve it in is deceptively shallow. Also the chips tasted a bit stale. I wished I got the salsa in a to go container and then got tortilla chips from a store.
VERDICT: OKAYnnVERDICT: EAT HERE. GET THE TACOS, BUT SKIP THE CHIPS AND TAKE HOME AN ORDER OF THE SALSA. -

★ 1I understand José just got their liquor license and may have some growing pains, but my service experience tonight was unacceptable.
I made a 7 PM reservation for 2 and arrived right on time. It took 10 minutes for them to even acknowledge us - no “give us a few minutes” etc. - seriously, NO acknowledgement.
We were seated outside and for 15+ minutes we were not acknowledged again. Servers came to visit the tables around us (behind table asked for check, received check, and table got cleared - 3 visits) and we were again not acknowledged once. Even a simple apology that they needed some time would have helped.
During this time we saw two tables inside seated after us that put in their orders, received waters, and got chips.
We are super understanding when restaurants are busy as long as they communicate. It felt like everyone working here was extremely ignorant.
