★ 3Following up our last amazing trip to a different First Watch we had very high hopes for the Research Boulevard location. However, what we experienced was a disorganized meal marred by slow, inattentive service. We arrived with a party of 4 and were seated quickly upon arrival, waiting no more than 3-5 min. We were on the waitlist beforehand so that’s probably why the wait was a bit shorter as we got seated before others who were already there. It was busy which is nice to see on a Sunday morning and the restaurant itself is clean and open. Once we were seated we ordered pretty quickly. We got a good amount of items: pancakes, French toast, bacon, breakfast potatoes, their seasonal chimichurri hash, and cheese grits.
The food, like last time, was great. Fluffy pancakes, perfect French toast and bacon, savory potatoes and their seasonal hash; every bite was a good one during the meal. What was frustrating and ultimately changed the direction of the meal though was the inattentive service. We had our plates cleared after eating our appetizer of blueberry cornbread (forgot to mention earlier but it was also delicious) and some of our forks were taken during that plate clearing. That would be the last time we had forks for about 20 minutes. When our food arrived we literally did not have anything to eat it with and when we asked a runner if she could grab us more she said she’d let our server know. Unfortunately our server must’ve never gotten told because we had to walk up to the kitchen and ask for more forks ourselves. We also asked for more butter and that took a while to come out as well.
By the end of the meal we were happy with our food but left dissatisfied by the service. As good as First Watch is, we understand that it will vary by location. This location seemed to be a miss for us but that won’t be enough to keep us away. We’ll be back at some point to another location, but probably not this one, which is unfortunate as it’s the closest one to us and in a great location. -

★ 5Server was quick and friendly. We were hungry, so her getting our orders in quickly was appreciated. The food came out quick and hot. Coffee was constantly maintained. Very busy on the weekends but wait times weren’t too long.
The restaurant was clean, had an open airy atmosphere, and bright with all the windows.
Great breakfast spot. -

★ 5The food is delicious and on the healthy side for American breakfast and lunch. The place is well kept and clean. The staff are friendly and attentive.
The only thing I noticed is this place charged the coffee by person. Even though it was only the same pot of regular cofee for 2 people, on the recipe there was 2 categories for regular coffee and decafe cofee and each charged by $3.99nWould recommend this place and the summer menu. -

★ 5THE BEST. Easily the best breakfast restaurant me and my husband have found here in Austin since moving from Las Vegas a couple months ago!! We’ve gone twice so far and the quality is great and consistent. The food is flavorful, aesthetically pleasing and reasonably priced. The service is great, attentive, and efficient. The restaurant has a great casual vibe. There’s nothing wrong I can point out about this restaurant. Definitely our favorite restaurant experience by far!
