04/18/26nnMy wife and I were driving by and noticed cars in the parking lot—we didn’t even realize they were open for dinner. We’ve been here before for breakfast and lunch and have always enjoyed the food, so we decided to stop in and check. To our surprise, they were open and told us they’ve been offering dinner on Fridays and Saturdays for the past few weeks, with next week being the last.
The dinner menu was small but appealing: a couple of soups, a few salads, and about eight entrées. Everything sounded good, so we started with the chicken and rice soup and the roasted beet salad. The soup had good flavor but could have used a bit more broth. The beet salad, however, was excellent—I hope they add that to the regular lunch menu.
For dinner, my wife ordered the Flounder Blue Crab Chesapeake with Vidalia onion rice and garlicky green beans. Unfortunately, they were out of the flank steak I originally wanted, and also out of green beans, so everything came with asparagus instead. I ended up ordering the Crabcake Royale.
The prices were very reasonable, which we appreciated. Our entrées came out looking great. My wife’s flounder was moist and well-cooked, though the crab sauce was a bit heavy on the Old Bay seasoning. My crabcake was presented nicely over perfectly cooked rice, but it had the same issue—the sauce and crab cake was over-seasoned with Old Bay.
As for the crabcake itself, the first bite was good, but something felt off. After a few more bites, I realized it was made entirely with claw meat rather than backfin. I confirmed this with the waitress. Had I known that ahead of time, I would have ordered something else—probably the roast beef they should not this on the menu. The menu simply listed “Crabcake Royale,” and in my experience, crab cakes typically include backfin but are mainly backfin, so this was disappointing.
We were too full for dessert at the restaurant, but took a slice of strawberry cake home (it was that or the peanut butter pie). After trying it later, it ended up being the biggest disappointment of the night. The cake itself was clearly homemade but very dry and lacking flavor—especially vanilla. The icing tasted like store-bought whipped topping, and while the strawberry filling in the middle was nice, it would have been better if that flavor carried throughout the icing.
Overall, the appetizers were very good and the experience was still enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back, but we’ll likely stick to what we know—breakfast, sandwiches, and non-seafood options.

The atmosphere was very nice, family friendly. Service was very good. Food was delicious. Iced coffee was great! Good ADA accommodations. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because there was no changing table in the bathroom - which is a big deal if you have toddlers in diapers. Besides that, highly recommend.

Very nice place! Went for the first time for brunch with my friends. Food was very good! We had skillets, French toast, salmon blt wrap and creamed chipped beef. Everyone enjoyed their meals.
The most important part Make Sure to Get Their Homemade Pop Tart!!! It is SO Delicious!

I had breakfast with friends one day last week and the Meathead skillet reminded me of a dish from one of my favorite Key West restaurants. Not exactly the healthiest but oh so good.
My wife and I heard Daybreak was open for dinner and the friends who recommended raved over the dinner they had there. It did not disappoint. We had the flounder Chesapeake and pot roast with cream of crab soup. The food was outstanding and at a very reasonable price point. The peanut butter pie was a simply decadent finish. Our server Tristen was friendly, attentive and enthusiastic! We will be back!

Food was amazing, I went with a French toast and had a side of bacon and cheesy grits that were delicious, everybody in our party love their food. Oversized pancakes, their Benedict is done perfectly, and will be back soon. We also got some of their prepared foods to go.
