★ 5If you’re in downtown San Diego and looking for a cozy breakfast or brunch spot, Cafe 222 is definitely worth a visit. From the moment you walk in, the place has a warm, welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home. It’s not overly fancy, but that’s part of its charm—it feels like a classic local café where the focus is really on good food and friendly service.
The menu has a great variety of breakfast and brunch options, and everything tastes fresh and well-prepared. Their pancakes are especially popular, and it’s easy to see why—they’re fluffy, flavorful, and cooked just right. The omelets and egg dishes are also solid choices, with generous portions that will definitely leave you satisfied. You can tell they use quality ingredients, and the presentation is simple but appealing.
Service is another highlight. The staff is attentive, quick, and genuinely friendly, making sure you’re taken care of without feeling rushed. Even when it gets busy, they handle the crowd well and keep things moving smoothly.
Overall, Cafe 222 is a great spot whether you’re grabbing a casual breakfast, meeting friends for brunch, or just want a reliable place with consistently good food. It’s one of those places you’ll find yourself wanting to come back to again. -

★ 5Very nice breakfast place near the convention center (walking distance). First time visiting and we were not disappointed. Had the Benedict Arnold that was delicious and my friend had the two eggs with turkey bacon. She was happy with her meal as well. Very tasty and filling. The orange juice was fresh and the service quick.

★ 5Great breakfast spot. After several days in San Diego with good breakfasts it was nice to find a place that served more of a traditional American breakfast. They did have many choices so it was not a boring breakfast place. Staff was very friendly and helpful answering any questions. Food came out quick and hot. One of the better chicken fried steaks I've had in a while. Wait was not too long. Would definitely recommend trying this place if you want a real breakfast. Not just avocado toast.

★ 5Nice little breakfast place. Everyone Inwas with enjoyed their food. They got the blueberry cornbread waffle, eggs Benedict, and strawberry Nutella waffle. I stuck to the egg and potatoes and was pleased. The potatoes were cooked so well. I would definitely return to this place if I’m ever back in town.

★ 4This place impressed me more than expected. When I saw what I perceived to be The Owner running around, pouring Coffee, taking Orders etc, I wasn't sure what to expect. My Super Biscuits And Gravy were excellent! Big plate of Food. Gravy was good . Biscuits were grilled. The Gravy was Plentiful as it should be. Only thing, my Sausage was a little Burned and Unevenly Cooked. It needed to be rolled around on the grill and cooked uniformly all around. Everything else was so good though, they get a Pass on the Sausage!
