The portion sizes are huge! We grabbed a breakfast burrito and it was enough for 2-3 people. The food was very flavorful and everything we ate was delicious. This is a great place to come hang out and grab breakfast!

We wanted to try a new breakfast spot while staying downtown, and Early Bird popped up as a great option. After reviewing the menu, we were excited by the wide variety of choices, there’s something for everyone.

Our waiter was fantastic, friendly, attentive, and clearly on top of his tables, which made the experience even better. Beyond the food and service, the branding really stood out. The typography is thoughtfully done, the color palette and bird logo is simplistic yet charming, and even the napkin design was incredibly cute. It’s clear a lot of intention went into every detail.

Overall, Early Bird offers a wonderful combination of great atmosphere, solid service, and a menu worth exploring. We’d absolutely return.

We were on our way to another breakfast place and drove past Early Bird. We'd heard of it and never been, so we decided to change our plans and stop in. The gentleman who greeted us was so friendly and clearly enjoys his job. He got us seated with menus and took our drink orders. We needed a little extra time to order since it was our first time. I ordered the Early Bird Combo (2 eggs, choice of meat - I got bacon - and choice of pancake or French Toast - I got the French toast). My spouse ordered the El Gordo Morning Burrito (in a bowl) and a side of the Farnum French Toast. Oh.My.Buds. That burrito bowl is heaven, that avocado crema is DELECTABLE. Our server was friendly and prompt, she kept our coffee full and checked on us appropriately - not too much, just enough. They have a dedicated parking lot and we got there before the usual rush. This is a new favorite breakfast spot.

Early Bird in Des Moines, Iowa is an outstanding breakfast and brunch spot that truly delivers on both food and atmosphere. On our recent visit, we were seated immediately with no wait, which is always a pleasant surprise for a popular breakfast place. The restaurant has a stylish, well-designed interior with cute, modern décor, and there’s also a nice outdoor patio for those who want to enjoy their meal in the fresh air. Everything felt clean and inviting, including the restrooms, which were spotless.

I decided to go all-in with the Big Breakfast Bloody — their take on a Bloody Mary that comes fully loaded with a breakfast sandwich and tater tots right on top. It’s truly a whole breakfast in a glass, and the presentation was nothing short of amazing. The flavors were just as impressive as the look, and it made for a fun, memorable start to the day.

My wife ordered the avocado toast, which was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated. Service was prompt and friendly without being rushed, adding to the overall relaxed vibe.

Before leaving, we checked out their gift and merchandise area, which had plenty of fun Early Bird swag — a great touch for visitors. If you’re looking for a creative, delicious breakfast or brunch in Des Moines, Early Bird is a must-visit. Highly recommend for both locals and travelers.

Terrible experience sitting at the bar and being ignored. I saw the bartender wait on other tables BEFORE dealing with me. I'm not dressed up as I'm in the middle of a move and this woman was so averse to my presence.
Very upsetting. Dropped a water off for me then disappeared. When she decided to reappear, it was as if I posed a danger. The vibe was off. She asked if I wanted something to drink and I stated that I had enough time to know what I want but had a few questions about steak and eggs. They don't have it. That's OK. Then I advised that I want coffee. She said OK. When she dropped my coffee, no sugar no cream no stir stick. I had to hunt. A server saw me and got me cream. I'm thankful for him.
I won't return. By no means does it seem others have this experience but I did. I'm a little sad.
Aside from that, their namesake combo is good.
