  Having spent the past two years living in Castine, I’ve seen this market evolve and I’m genuinely impressed by where it’s headed.
  
  Back when it was T&C Market, you could tell the place was aging. It felt like the ownership had checked out. So when it was sold, rebranded as Castine Market, and began undergoing renovations, I was skeptical. It felt like it might become another case of out-of-towners swooping into a small town, squeezing out profits, and stripping away the character. But that’s not what happened.
  
  The new ownership is putting in serious work — not just to modernize the space, but to build something better for the community. They’re responsive to what people want. If there’s something they don’t carry and you ask for it, odds are it’ll be stocked the next time you walk in. They’re clearly listening — to the students at Maine Maritime Academy, the construction crews working the waterfront, and the year-round residents of Castine.
  
  The quality has jumped across the board. They’re offering a diverse, rotating selection of hot, fresh grab-and-go meals daily — things like meatball subs, Reubens, and calzones — coming fresh out of the oven around midday. It’s convenient, fairly priced, and consistently good.
  
  Just as important, the atmosphere inside the market is great. The people behind the counter are friendly, interesting, and fun to talk to. There’s a real sense of community — the kind where you run into familiar faces, catch up for a few minutes, and leave with more than just groceries.
  
  They’re still renovating, and from what I’ve seen, they’re not cutting corners. They’re building something that reflects pride, care, and a long-term investment in this town.
  
  Castine Market has exceeded every expectation I had. It’s already become a bright spot in town, and it’s only getting better.

  I love our little store in the village of Castine. They have some nice food options, local products and the pizza is pretty good :-)nBooze, beer, wine, deli, breakfast sandwiches ready to go; gas is also available. Parking gets limited on some days but not bad---easy in and easy out.

  Great market. Fantastic prepared food and daily specials. Fresh veg, yay! and they kindly ordered my favorite wine.

  Had two very different experiences here. During the first visit the staff member was not friendly at all and acted like we were inconveniencing her by asking for assistance. I was trying to buy a cooler and the staff member acted like it was my fault that it wouldn’t fit through the plexiglass partition. The staff member then complained about us being in the store to someone that called . My second experience was great. The staff was very friendly and super helpful and even gave us a great recommendation for lunch.
