★ 5Had an amazing birthday brunch at Bread and Friends. They were so kind and brought us a birthday treat. I had the Dutch baby and the salmon and potatoes. Also tried their brown butter latte and a miso peanut butter tahini cookie. The food was great but the people are even better! Will be back.

★ 5Bread & Friends is more than breakfast or dinner, it’s an experience. Everything feels handmade with care, passion, and creativity. You can actually watch them preparing everything fresh in-house, and you taste the difference immediately. The bread is incredible, the coffee is excellent, and every dish feels unique and thoughtfully crafted. This was honestly one of the most memorable breakfasts we had in Portland, Maine. The atmosphere feels warm and welcoming, and every detail shows how much care goes into the food. Their mimosas are also a must try. I first came here for breakfast and thought it was one of the best food experiences I had found in Portland… then I came back for dinner and understood that Bread & Friends is truly something special. I traveled more than 34 hours, and every mile was worth it. This is not a large restaurant trying to impress people with artificial luxury. The luxury here is in the food, the craftsmanship, the freshness, and the attention behind every plate. The oysters, the fresh fish, the desserts, and the housemade bread… every detail feels elevated while still warm and authentic. This is not just dinner, it is the kind of experience that stays with you long after the trip is over. Small, intimate, elegant, and full of soul. If you are traveling through Maine, even if it is not directly on your route, make the stop. Places like this are becoming harder and harder to find. Highly recommended.

★ 5I want to tell you about my experience here but I cannot think about anything other than how delicious the kouign-amann is. The black cherry and chocolate kouign-amann has to be the best pastry I’ve ever eaten. It’s a perfect balance of butter and sugar and crisp and that interior chocolate with the black cherry … I’m taking this energy in 2026! But also the restaurant is so light, and warm, the staff the personable as anything and we had such a delightful breakfast. We arrived early (before 9AM) and it does look like it gets busy, so if avoiding a wait is any motivation, this is a spot worth getting out of bed for!

★ 5The pastrami biscuit and French toast with the “everything pulled apart” are immaculate with intense and great flavors! We definitely will be back for more! Vibes and decorations also very cute, this is a 10/10 bakery and brunch spot if you’re in Portland!

★ 5Cozy cafe during the day with a limited but creatively curated and delicious dinner menu that combines farm-to-table food with unique and effective flavors. Was pleasantly surprised and the price point felt spot on for the quality of food and service. Lovely atmosphere with a super friendly and engaging staff. Definitely go for the Breads and Friends parker rolls, all of the vegetable dishes (particularly the carrots and sunchoke) and the Scottish salmon (the sauces will make you want to lick the plates).
