★ 5Finding a dedicated GF location is like being Indiana Jones (you feel like a treasure hunter). This was no exception, everything we “discovered” (read ate) was fabulous. We chose to split a half sandwich and soup and a half sandwich and salad, to try a few things. Both sandwiches were fabulous (wife had Italian on bread and I had cranberry chicken), salad was excellent, and we got an Apple cider donut for later that was divine.
My maple latte was out of this world, even if a little sweet.
Food was truly fabulous. There is a whole lotta god and the word god in the atmosphere - so make sure you are okay with tha. But aesthetic and mood was very fresh and welcoming. -

★ 4Very nice gluten free Cafe. The baked goods were very good, not overly dense or dry. The club sandwich was not really a club as the whole thing (including the lettuce) was heated in what may have been a sandwich press. It was good, just not a club. The veggie quiche was delicious, not sure why other reviews thought the quiche wasn't good. It's a lovely place and very clean. All in all, it was a nice experience and we would go back.

★ 5Roots is our favorite coffee house! Bible and breakfast = bliss. The breakfast crepe might be the best thing ever. Chock full of veggies, eggs, cheese & bacon (my pref). Praise God for such a wonderful establishment.

★ 5A bunch of negative reviews are due to the anti Christian citizens of Maine. As far as negative reviews because of the taste of food, the gluten-free food tastes gluten free. It will not taste like the super processed, bleached, artificial foods you get elsewhere.
I honestly enjoy it very much. The food is delicious and clean. The coffee is very good too.
The atmosphere is awesome as well.
Friendly staff, as far as I've seen. And I have been to Roots many times. My family and I frequent there. I would say we have visited around 30+ times in the past 2 years. Always leave happy.
Owners are great!
Its also great to have a place that has indoor seating, outdoor seating, roof top seating, and plenty of parking!
Many coffee shops offer none or simply some of that. And parking? Forget it.
I'm not here to trash other coffee shops, but the fact that Roots has their own parking is HUGE compared to shops in Portland, South Portland, Saco, Biddeford, and other surrounding cities.
On top of that, yes, they have MANY Christian books as a free resource, but they also have locally made shirts, jewelry, and partner with organizations and ministries that help food the poor, rehabilitate ex criminals, and much other!
If you can't see the good because of the hate and distaste you have for Christianity, then that is another story.
Keep up the great work Roots!
Roots has earned 5/5 stars from me and my family and always will. -

★ 5Incredible dedicated gluten free cafe! Food was great. Sandwiches were perfectly grilled. The salad was huge and super tasty. And the desserts were spectacular. They had a steady line of people but it moved fast. The dining area was comfortable and cozy and still had plenty of space. We will be back next time we are up that way and highly recommend it.
