We stopped at Java Lava Cafe for breakfast on our way to Denver, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip.

Right from the start, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful—especially when my wife was deciding what to order. They even pointed out that she could get a half burrito for half the price, which was a thoughtful touch and much appreciated.

She ordered the Mama’s Burrito (with bacon), and I had the Christy Breakfast Burrito. We both had ours smothered in their green chile (pork) sauce, and both were excellent. The chorizo in the Christy was especially well done—flavorful without being greasy. My wife loved her burrito, and the half portion ended up being perfect for her. We also had coconut lattes, which were smooth, well-balanced, and a great complement to the meal.

Even though you order at the counter, the staff made a point to check in on us several times, which added a personal touch you don’t always get in that setup.

The space itself is bright and welcoming, with plenty of windows letting in natural light. While it’s located in a strip mall, being on the end gives it a more open feel. The décor has a fun Southwest, slightly kitschy vibe that fits the place well.

We noticed several regulars coming through and a steady stream of to-go orders, which says a lot. Places don’t stay busy like that—or stay around for nearly two decades—without doing something right.

If you’re anywhere near Granby, this is absolutely worth a stop.

We were recommended Java Lava Café for breakfast, and it absolutely did not disappoint. This cozy little spot has an awesome vibe and the customer service was amazing from start to finish. The food was beyond delicious, and the portions were very generous. You can tell this is a place the locals love—and for good reason. Highly recommend supporting this local joint. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in the Granby area!

The food was very good! They look like small portions but they are not! The lady who took my order was so kind and made my bacon exactly how I like it. I had a skillet with the green chile on it and WOW! It tastes amazing! My husband had corned beef hash and it was fresh, not canned and so good! I’m in middle of a seizure cluster and am having several daily, she showed us the back dining area where it’s quieter and when I had a seizure I’m sure I caused less of a disturbance to the diners. I’m certainly less embarrassed about it now. I appreciate her kindness!

For the service, price, atmosphere, and attentive ness of the staff this place easily EARNED 5 stars.

Cashier was super friendly and helpful and this is while they were dealing with a LINE out the door. When you can have service like that without being snippy and frantic, that’s what customer service is supposed to be like.

My little one had the basic breakfast along with pretty much my entire family lol. They ALL loved it and raved at how perfect the hash browns were cooked. My little one loved the over med eggs and they were cooked perfect.

I had the g town skillet. The green chili had great flavor and the potatoes were nice and soft. That with the sausage… drizzle some tobacco on top… it was one of the best green chili skillets I’ve ever had.

Also tried a cherry turnover and it was flaky and moist and the filling was tasty.

Super pleased with this place and how well they handled the absolute crazy amount of people. The line was out the door the entire time we were here.

Absolutely fantastic little breakfast spot. The employees were so kind and helpful as this was our first time. We love supporting Mom and Pop! Breakfast served all day but they do close at 2 most days. Menu has great traditional options as well as grab and go burritos. Tables inside and parking are limited but totally worth it.
