★ 4Stopped in for Sunday Brunch. Great menu with standard classics and some new choices.
Inside a very rustic feel that was clean and well decorated.
Staff friendly and the service was great. -

★ 4Honestly expected more. Historic venue, lovely grounds..the scene was set for a fantastic and romantic dinner.
Upon entering it felt a little outdated. The clientele was very much an older generation (think 55+) and the staff were also more mature. These things aren't negative as such, but helps establish the somewhat outdated feel and also very casual clothing from the dining population. I thought It would definitely be more upscale as a whole in both decor, appearance and clientele.
The atmosphere was comfortable with a nice energy though and was a plus.
The food however was quite mixed. I had the scallops with risotto and I will say the risotto was outstanding and the scallops beautifully made. However the asparagus and side of brussel sprouts were exceedingly bland.
The other dish ordered was the sea bass which unfortunately was just ok and perhaps didn't meet the price tag associated with the meal, and again the accompanying vegetables were rather blah.
The dirty martinis were excellent though, but the draught list was rather limited.
All in all the restaurant was pleasant but for every positive, it seemed there was an equally average let down. We wanted to like the place more than we did and especially considering the prices, it didn't seem to match. -

★ 4My wife and I had a reservation at the Grain House this past Sunday at lunch time. We were seated almost immediately after arriving, and were helped by the excellent Lance. I got the standard Angus burger, which was perfectly cooked and delicious. My wife got the hen eggs with salmon, which she thoroughly enjoyed, too. We also tried some cocktails- I make a pretty mean Old Fashioned at home, but their Grain House Old Fashioned is one of the best I've had, not even kidding. The wait for our dessert was excessive, but like the professional that he is, Lance removed the cost of it from our bill, without us even saying a word. I would love to give the Grain House five stars, but having been there several times, the quality of the food can vary somewhat, and the wait times for both seating and service have often proven quite lengthy. Still, highly recommend!

★ 3If you like dining in a historic place, you should try the Grain House. There's a pub and separate restaurant side, so take your pick based upon your needs that day. It's right across the parking lot from the Old Mill Inn, so it can get busy. Reservations are recommended, but not required.
