★ 5I dont go into the downtown Portland area much but I have been trying to come to this restaurant for a while now and when I would drive by this restaurant there would always be a line outside and their dinning area is small so the wait is about 20-35 mins per group but luckily today i was able to get in without having to wait outside. The food here is delicious, so I ordered the chicken fried steak with gravy served with 2 eggs, sliced potatoes(hashbrowns) and toast. I figured if the gravy is good then the rest of the food on the menu has to be good and the gravy was a hit for me. The food was cooked perfectly. My wife ordered a pumpkin mancake and she could not finish it so I did lol, that pumpkin mancake hit the spot. The pancakes here are huge so order carefully lol. I will definently be returning to try other dishes. The staff is very cool and polite, best service anyone could ask for.
My wife is trying not to eat dairy but there wasn't any said dairy substitutes on the menu which is fine, we still ate lol. Theres a nostalgic vibe in the restaurant. It is small so it is hard to get in with a wheelchair but they can get you at one of the couple of tables next to the door. Definitely try this place if you haven't yet. -

★ 5A real 5-star rating. I say this because I give a lot of 5's to 4.4 places. The place just has that complete package you want when you are on vacation or just want something better than the usual (but you don't want to go to a $$$ place). The two most popular dishes are sort of a must -- the chicken fried steak and the mancake manhole-sized pancake! (You can also acquire the mancake as an upgrade from your toast!) The potatoes are also not too be missed. The atmosphere, retro decor, counter, staff, MUSIC (can't promise you) are all 5 star. Long waits on the weekend. I went on a Thurs at 1p. And it was 50% full.
If you order the mancake you are temporarily granted 24-hr mansplaing and patriarchal behavior in Portland. It's worth the calories. -

★ 5This place is very laid back its a brunch diner. I was feeling Mexican and egg Benedicts, who would've know this place had a twist of both. Ill definitely be back to try other cool dishes. 80's music in the background takes you back to how places used to be all around.

★ 5Whatever I say about this place won't describe it as good as actually going in and having a meal there. Very warm atmosphere food was really good staff more that welcoming. If you wanna feel like a local this place will do the trick!
P.S- There is going to be a line! So it's better to be there before 10am -

★ 5Great diner vibe. Got me the Elbendicto Loco...soooooo good. The carnival with the poached egg and a little tartness from salsa verde...what a bite. Service was friendly, extremely attentive, and focused. Menu is so many great items that I will need to return. Well worth the trip!
